Our Soy Wax Candles

Spending a little more money or time locating organic non-toxic candles appears to be worth it in regards to your indoor air environment and your health. No need to look any further.  Our candles are made with Soy Wax and lead-free Cotton Wicks.

Most conventional candles are made from paraffin wax, which is a by-product of petroleum, a non-renewable resource, which has been linked to poor indoor air quality. Paraffin candles release a petro-carbon soot that stains your walls, furniture and is circulated through your air ducts. This soot, according to the American Lung Association, contains 11 documented toxins, two of which are known carcinogens — toluene and benzene. Some paraffin candle makers are still using lead core wicks which when heated emit lead particulates into the air, which can then be inhaled. 100% of lead that is inhaled is absorbed into the bloodstream. Children’s developing bodies are particularly vulnerable. Chronic low-level lead exposure, as seen with lead wick use, has been found to produce permanent neuro-psychological defects and behavior disorders in children, including low IQ, short attention span, hyperactive behavior, and motor difficulties.

There is no longer a need to buy paraffin candles due to the wide availability of soy candles and beeswax candles, and to a lesser extent bayberry candles and even tapioca wax candles.

Our soy wax candles are made for your enjoyment and good health.

The designers Viktor & Rolf introduce FLOWERBOMB on the catwalk

This is a great study in fashion design and packaging design.  Enjoy.

Oh yes, Chloe.  When I use to wear fragrances from over the counter Chloe was one of my all-time favorites during the Fall season.  Now I simply duplicate it!   Beautiful perfume bottle and nice photography for this advertisement.  Click here to review:   Chloe Advertisement

Versace Bright Crystal

Versace Bright Crystal – What a gorgeous bottle.  It really is all about the fragrance and I love that the production shows pictures of the flowers that make up the accord of the fragrance:  yuzu, peony, lotus flower, acajou +

Finally, while in South Beach this year I got to see the architecture of the Versace Mansion… to my delight.  It is now a world-class boutique hotel open for dinner.  When in Miami Versace fans flock there…

Chanel No. 5

Chanel No. 5 – perfume commercial – 3.5 Stars out of 5 Stars – viewed in Francais, featuring Nicole Kidman.  A beautiful evening skyline with the Chanel double C logo illuminating the architecture.  A 2:00 minute clip.

The New Chanel No. 5 perfume commercial is featured here with Audrey Tatou on le train Bleu.  As she meets a new love on the train the only way he can find out what room she is in is by the smell of her perfume.  Great story line.  Beautiful scenery &  train ride on her journee’ to Istanbul. Brilliant photography throughout with a feel for the 1920’s era with the style of ship – perhaps her new found love sailed away.   Love the double C logo at the end and especially his embrace.  I give this Five Stars!

Another Chanel No. 5 perfume commercial  featuring Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf.  Not a bad commercial for 20 seconds.

Beyonce Heat

Beyonce Heat perfume commercial runs 32 seconds and can also be seen on her website. Has anyone seen the scent strip for the fragrance?  It’s actually really cool.  It’s a square shape with an oversized letter “B” raised in metallic red on black paper – now that’s hot.  The scent strip lists her website as well as the name of the perfume.  That’s a whole lot of information for a scent strip. It’s brillant and it’s what 2010 marketing is all about.  Someone really paid attention to detail on this one.

What I like most about this campaign is the very interactive website and all the details from behind the scenes:  filming the commercial; photos from the launch party, etc.  Her sister Solange was the deejay and I understand the building was lit up in red lights with smoke machines on high.  Afterall perfume is smoke.

Perfume connoisseurs will certainly enjoy the “fragrance lounge” featured on the website where the ingredients of the perfume are laid out in a festive spread which you can click on for details about every note.  Look behind the portrait on the wall.

Upon entering, the lounge also features scores of candles that allow you to really feel the Heat and if you have a webcam I understand you can actually blow the candles out!  Forget about the candles… I’m blown away by this campaign. Don’t forget to check out the laptop and someone left their expensive camera.  The only thing they forget to include was a cell phone but since she is singing the entire time there may not have been an opportunity for her to answer.

You will need to register on her perfume website to gain access to all the juice.  It’s like being on the guest list and having your own backstage pass to Beyonce’s world of perfumery.  Enjoy!

FLOWERBOMB

FLOWERBOMB 5th Anniversary party in Paris at the Hotel Le Meurice featuring Grace Jones serenading the cake & Viktor & Rolf the designers …(somebody didn’t see Grace Jones when she launched Strange’ in the movie Boomerang… OMGosh).

I was actually in Paris at the launch of  FLOWERSBOMB and enjoyed seeing their elaborate display of packaging and flowers in the center of the floor underneath the dome of Galeries Lafayette.  I’ll load those pictures soon.   See the cake being brought into the ballroom festivities – 40 second clip – shaped and draped just like “the box” with it’s signature black flower and double V ribbon.

Because the bottle is shaped like a hand grenade distribution was slowed and held up for some time because customs agents were always mistakening it (pardon my vnglish)  for real hand grenades.  You will see the bottle was redesigned and packaged into a taller sleeker presentation in recent years.

Viktor & Rolf blow out the candles on the Flowerbomb cake 47 second clip. The real treat behind these two designers is their website.  Check out the board room and don’t miss the fashion show, see what’s behind THE DOORS. Very interactive… you’ll need time to play.  Check it out here

Parisienne by YSL

Parisienne by YSL commercial starts off really powerful and never disappoints!  A very sensual taxi ride thru Paris and it’s most famous bridge the Pont Neuf.  The soft pink & white rose and bed of soft roses make a great focal point so that you are reminded – it’s a perfume commercial…otherwise it could perhaps be rated X.  Do I see a gentleman’s arms or are those just hers?  I would have enjoyed seeing the flash of the Pont Neuf bridge held a little longer although the model does ultimately end up there.

The bottle is very very similar to Flowerbomb and I don’t think Viktor & Rolf are happy about that.  I loved it and give it 4 Stars out of 5.  The scent strip is not only a strip but  a huge cut-out of a soft pink rose edged in black.  The name of the fragrance PARISIENNE Yves Saint Laurent is what seems like a 50″ font stamped in gold.  For a scent strip… it compares to the size of a billboard and we love it!
